Mentorship Deep Dive (Session 2, Part 1: Engaging Communities) 2024-2025
On February 10, 2025, The Residency Lab launched its second session of the Mentorship-Focused Deep Dive series that centers on mentorship, equity, and family and community engagement within teacher residency programs. Part 1 of this session features Lisa Borrego, from the California Family and Community Engagement (CA FACE) initiative, who joined us to discuss how family and community engagement is a critical pillar for equity, student success, and sustainable educator preparation, highlighting frameworks like the Dual Capacity Framework to strengthen school–family partnerships. Participants also learn how intentional mentorship and community collaboration can enhance teacher preparation, foster belonging, and build stronger, more inclusive educational ecosystems.
