Residency Integration: Section 6: Equitable Workload & Schedules (Module 3)
In section six, participating programs will audit official versus actual hours to identify and resolve workload leaks that lead to mentor and resident burnout. Next, they will apply the 60/20/20 balance to protect the cognitive load of the co-teaching pair and ensure the residency does not revert to a traditional student teaching or subbing model. Finally, teams will evaluate and select host sites based on a principal’s commitment to cluster placements and systemic schedule protections rather than individual mentor interest alone.
